I have to apologize. I kind of forgot about this blog for a while. Some pretty hardcore stuff has happened in the last couple of months, and I've had my mind on other things. I've been making some pretty awesome stuff too, and soon as I can find the camera, I'll post pictures. Pretty, bright, colourful pictures that will be the best I've ever taken. Well... maybe not quite that good, but at least you'll be able to tell what they are. In the last little while, I've made:
- A feather and fan blanket for my aunt.
- An Irish Hiking Scarf for my boyfriend.
- A knot stitch blanket for my mum.
- A multicoloured, multi-yarned blanket for my sister.
- Two cabled hats for my sister and aunt.
- A drop stitch scarf out of some lovely green and purple laceweight, and
- A LOT of fishies.
In my defense, I've had a lot of time to knit lately. I switched from a public school to an online/homeschool hybrid thing, so now I'm home all day. It's great fun. I can sleep in as late as I want, eat anything, watch whatever I please and actually do all the things I've been putting off because I didn't have the time. I also learned how to spin. With a CD spindle and some fleece. I've come to the conclusion that I dislike spinning wool and fleece and would much rather do fabric and plastic bags. I did a pretty blue and yellow yarn out of scrap fabric that I think I'll use to make a rug. And today I spun some walmart bags too. They turned out well enough, I suppose. I still need to figure out how to finish my spun yarns so they don't start to unravel. Ah well, I'm sure I'll get it one day.
I've joined the SCA. Don't worry, it's not a cult. It's the Society of Creative Anachronism and it's awesome! Right now I'm just singing, but eventually I want to try heavy fighting(fighting with a sword and shield). I find that the people are incredibly helpful and kind and generally wonderful. They are always willing to share knowledge and teach newcomers. It's great! I've already started my new dress, which is a tube dress. I think it might be a peplos style dress. I haven't quite decided on a persona, but I think I may just go with something from the British Isles. Irish, more than likely. It's definitely made my interest in history more... acceptable. And of course, there is no end of things to try. I'm incredibly excited to go to my first event, which is called Winter War and in two weeks. It's going to be completely awesome, or so I've been told.
I think that's all for now, and I'll try to have those pictures up just as soon as I can take them.
